David Butterfield is a composer known for his work on Emmy-nominated television series as well as viral videos, independent films and video game trailers. His projects include Netflix’s animated series “Fast and Furious: Spy Racers” in collaboration with composers Ryan Lofty and Jay Vincent, Nickelodeon’s “The Crystal Maze,” which is based on the hit British game show, as well as "Doug Unplugs", produced by Dreamworks and Apple TV. David has captivated audiences across the globe with thrilling soundtracks for animated series like “Cleopatra in Space,” “Harvey Girls Forever!” and international sensation “Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu.” In addition to his extensive work in television, David has created music for some of Buzzfeed’s top-performing videos in collaboration with producer and actor Eugene Lee Yang of The Try Guys. The video project “Is Your Life Average?,” which marries Eugene’s stunning choreography and production with David’s emotive orchestral themes, garnered over 4 million views. David has also worked with video game giant Electronic Arts on music for the “Battlefield 4” and “Dragon Age: Inquisition” trailers. David received his Bachelor of Music degree in Media Writing and Production from the University of Miami and studied under Academy Award-nominated composer Chris Boardman, known for his work on hit movies like “The Color Purple” and “Payback.” A classically trained violist, David began writing music at an early age and quickly became adept at melding his classical sensibilities with rock and electronic influences. When he’s not writing music or experimenting with new music software, David can be found binge-watching new Netflix shows or playing a competitive game of racquetball in his Los Angeles neighborhood.
